The HAMANN refining programme for the new BMW 7-series

Individualisation on the highest level – this is the motto under which HAMANN presents its refining programme for the new BMW 7-series of the model range F01 and F02. Already since 1986, the Laupheim-based company develops and produces products for the individualisation of BMW automobiles. Thereby, the HAMANN technicians profit from hundreds of successful motor sports participations. The competence which was gained there is the basis for the development of new HAMANN products and renders the highest level for product quality and processing. The result: stainless steel exhaust systems with a sporty and earthy sound, aerodynamics components reducing the lifting forces and striking light alloy rims from 19 to 22 inches. Interiors perfectly fitted with leather and combined with floor-mats in matching colours as well as non-slip aluminium pedals extend the accessory range.

Already when establishing the design, HAMANN perfectly adjusts the individual components of the aerodynamic pack. The result is an exciting styling with an optimised air flow across the car silhouette. LED daytime running lights which are integrated in the new front skirt, render a sporty-dynamic look and increase the passive safety. Simultaneously, in combination with the roof spoiler and the rear spoiler, the lifting forces are reduced and give the upper class limousine a new, attractive overall appearance. The visual connection between the front and rear part are the HAMANN side skirts which are available for the model series F01. The optionally available rear shield insert for the side skirt of the model 730d and 740i allows fitting the four-pipe sport end muffler. Four round stainless steel end pipes with a diameter of 90 millimetres perfectly enhance the rear part of the 7-series BMW and produce a powerful, earthy sound.

A performance enhancement for the Diesel engine with variable turbine geometrics is already under construction. By this first tuning stage the serial measure of the 730d (180 kW / 245 hp) increases by approximately 33 kW/45 hp.

A technical highlight of the offered tuning programme is the one-piece HAMANN-aluminium wheel called DESIGN HM EVO 22 inches. A hallmark of the modern styling is the glossy black paint with the diamond-grinded rim star and the discreet deep rim well. Five elongated and over-vaulted triple spokes document visual and technical finesse. Struts inside the spokes render additional stability. Modern production processes and the use of special aluminium alloys guarantee highest bearing loads at a low weight. Here, HAMANN recommends the dimensions 9.0Jx22 inches with 265/30ZR22 tyres at the front axle and 10.5Jx22 inches with 295/25ZR22 tyres at the rear axle.

The four progressively coiled chassis springs which lower the centre of gravity with the models 730d, 740i by 40 millimetres at the front- and rear axles, render a dynamic appearance. For the models 750i and 750Li, there is a lowering kit consisting of two chassis springs and an evening kit.

In addition to the existing, serial interior equipment, HAMANN accessories made first-class aluminium, pedals and foot-rests render motor sports air and perfectly match the embroidered HAMANN floor mat set. If desired, even a complete leather equipment can be produced with expert precision.

Husqvarna gets new manufacturing, R&D facility in Italy

Under BMW ownership, Husqvarna can look forward to bigger, better things in the near future...

According to a report on Dealer News, Husqvarna (which BMW bought from Claudio Castiglioni, back in 2007) will be shifting to its new headquarters in Italy, by May this year. BMW, which wants to bring various Husqvarna units – including engine, testing, development, styling and racing divisions – under one roof, is adding to Husqvarna’s existing facility at Cassinetta di Biandronno, in the Varese district of Italy.

BMW hope to sort out Husqvarna’s problems with quality control and spare parts supplies in the near future. While Husqvarna only sold 12,000 bikes in 2007, BMW hopes to increase sales in a big way over the next 2-3 years. In fact, the new manufacturing facility will have the capacity to produce up to 40,000 Husqvarna motorcycles every year.

BMW intend to keep Husqvarna as an off-road specialist brand and use R&D inputs from the company to improve/develop its own dual-purpose and off-road machines.

2009 BMW Individual 7 Series

BMW Individual 7 Series

BMW launched today the special edition Individual 7 Series that will be sold exclusively on the Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. It will be limited to only 31 units, in honor of the 7 Series’ 31st anniversary, each priced at $160,000.

This special edition is based on the BMW 750Li and will be powered by the all-new V-8 engine with direct injection and twin turbochargers rated at 400 hp. It includes iridescent Diopside Black metallic paintwork and BMW Individual Champagne Merino full leather. Even the smallest details - contrast piping and trim - are customized. The automobile is accented with interior Piano Black trim elements and BMW Individual steering wheel in Piano Black finish with wood ring insert and BMW Individual branding.

This is not the first time the German company teamed up with the upscale retailer. In 1995 the Christmas catalogue helped launch the Z3, and then again in 2006 BMW sold a limited edition M6 convertible through the Christmas Book.

2009 BMW 7-Series pricing announced

BMW announced the US pricing on the 2009 7-Series that made its world debut at the Paris Auto Show. The base price for the 750i is $81,125 and the 750Li is $85,025 (including $825 for destination and handling). Both models began production in November and will arrive at BMW Centers in the spring.

On the other hand, BMW announced that starting January 1st, 2009 all the price for all the models sold in USA will be increased by 0.7 percent.

The new BMW 7 Series is entering the market with a V8 and a straight-six gasoline engine both featuring Twin Turbo technology and direct fuel injection (High Precision Injection). The eight-cylinder developing maximum output of 407 hp between 5,500 and 6,400 rpm in the BMW 750i, for example, is the most efficient engine in its performance class and the only engine of its kind worldwide with the turbochargers fitted in the V-space between the two rows of cylinders.

2009 BMW 7-Series Individual

BMW 7-Series Individual

We first saw the 2009 BMW 7-Series Individual as a limited model in the 2008 Neiman Marcus Christmas Book. But just like the limited edition Z3 from the 1995 book, BMW couldn’t keep the special car just to the mail order crowd. So now at the Geneva Auto Show in two weeks BMW will show off a 7-Series Individual designed for the showroom.

The Neiman Marcus car was only available in a color called "Diopside Black", but on this one the car can be ordered in Anthracite, Silk Grey, Champagne, Amaro Brown and Platinum. Also the "Champagne Merino" mandatory color on the inside has bee replaced by the choice of leather in Graphite, Silk Grey, Champagne, Amaro Brown, Cohiba Brown, or Platinum. The 7-Series Individual is also offered with 20-inch light-alloy wheels in V-spoke design.

The real difference between the Individual version and the standard 7-Series seems to be the special paint. One final new color available is called "Citrin Black", which has Xillaric technology. This technology applies sophisticated crystallization process that produce special-effect pigments shimmering like gold in the sun.

We don’t have the pricing yet, but we expect it to retail for less than the 31-unit only $160,000 Neiman Marcus car.
